The PR & Communications Manager is responsible for creating and executing public relations and communication strategies to achieve business goals. Reporting directly to the Director of eCommerce, this role is essential for shaping both internal and external messaging, managing media relations, and driving brand narratives that resonate with target audiences. The PR & Communications Manager will oversee press releases, media outreach, crisis communication, and content creation across all platforms, including social media. Strong verbal and written communications skills are crucial for success, as is experience in PR, communications, and media management.
This role interacts cross-functionally with the Creative, eCommerce, Marketing and Customer Experience teammates to support company objectives while ensuring consistency in the branding, brand voice and tone, and ensure our brand is presented in line with our brand guidelines, across all messages, platforms, and touch points. Also, this role will be the day-to-day point of contact with our PR agency.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated passion for connecting brands to consumers via social media channels, as well as media outreach, combined with business savvy skills for leveraging creative partnerships and promotions while engaging in an authentic way through relevant content.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media:
- Community Engagement:
- Monitor and actively participate in discussions, comments, and conversations across our social media channels, forums, and online communities.
- Respond promptly to inquiries, comments, and feedback from community members in a friendly and professional manner.
- Encourage meaningful interactions, address concerns, and resolve issues to maintain a positive and supportive community environment.
- Content Creation and Management:
- Create and curate engaging content tailored to our community's interests and preferences.
- Plan and schedule social media posts, and announcements to keep the community informed and engaged.
- Collaborate with the MarCom/eCommerce to align community initiatives with broader marketing campaigns.
- Community Growth:
- Develop strategies to increase the size and reach of our community across various online platforms.
- Implement tactics to attract and retain new community members, including outreach efforts, partnerships, and promotions.
- Social Media Monitoring and Analysis:
- Monitor key social media metrics and community analytics to assess engagement levels and identify areas for improvement.
- Analyze trends and user behavior to optimize community strategies and foster a more active community.
- Prepare weekly/monthly/quarterly reports with main KPIs and insights and actionable items to address areas of improvement and continue to build upon wins.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the customer support team to ensure a seamless and consistent customer experience.
- Liaise with the customer support team to communicate community feedback and relevant insights related to product, processes, among others, to the different areas in the company.
- Collaborate with the marketing manager in the executing of the influencer program.
PR:
- Brand Advocacy:
- Identify and nurture brand advocates within the community, encouraging them to spread positive word-of-mouth and engage other users.
- Leverage brand advocates to share user-generated content and testimonials to boost brand credibility.
- Crisis Management:
- Address any negative sentiments or crisis situations in a timely and empathetic manner, escalating issues to the appropriate internal teams if necessary.
- Media & Influencer Relations:
- Build and maintain strong media relationships with key industry journalists, bloggers, and influencers.
- Lead media events, press briefings, and influencer collaborations
- Manage our Influencer program, by nurturing and maintaining current collaborations, as well as identify and recruit new content creators that align with our brand and products
- Oversee the product samples and media kits sent to editors and influencers.
- Partner with external PR agency to develop PR strategy and secure earned media placements.
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
- 5+ years of proven and relevant work experience in public relations, corporate communications, or media relations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey the brand's voice.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to empathize with community members.
- In-depth knowledge of various social media platforms and online community management tools.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and draw actionable insights.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving skills to develop engaging content and community initiatives.
- Ability to work independently and in a team, managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Familiarity with the brand's industry (fashion/apparel, outdoors)and target audience is a plus.

- Excellent sense of aesthetic and a keen eye for visual design and storytelling, with amazing attention to detail.
