Accessibility Statement

Last reviewed: September 1, 2026

We want everyone who visits the FreeCountry.com website to feel welcome and find the experience rewarding.

What are we doing?

To help us make the FreeCountry.com website a positive place for everyone, we've been using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and user friendly for everyone.

The guidelines have three levels of accessibility (A, AA and AAA). We've chosen Level AA as the target for the FreeCountry.com website.

How are we doing?

We've worked hard on the FreeCountry.com website and are committed to meeting Level AA accessibility. We review the website regularly to maintain and improve it, but if you do find any problems, please get in touch.

Let us know what you think

If you enjoyed using the FreeCountry.com website, or if you had trouble with any part of it, please get in touch. We'd like to hear from you in any of the following ways:

Statement History

  • September 1, 2026 — Completed a full accessibility audit of the website's page types against WCAG 2.2 Level AA, using automated scanning together with hands-on keyboard testing, and remediated the findings within our control: product carousels across the site no longer place off-screen items in the keyboard path and are now keyboard-scrollable; the homepage background video gained a pause control and respects the "reduce motion" system preference; text placed over photographs was given a legibility treatment; footer links were enlarged to meet minimum target size; a mislabeled slider control was repaired; keyboard focus can no longer be hidden behind the sticky header; and the contrast of article dates and bylines across the blog was increased to meet the minimum ratio. Findings in third-party components have been reported to the respective vendors.
  • August 31, 2026 — Reviewed the shopping cart and quick-view experience by keyboard. Reduced the number of keyboard steps needed to reach the Checkout button, and improved keyboard access to the product option panels opened from the cart and collection pages. Added descriptive text alternatives to all product videos, to the images used across the site, and to the press logos in the footer. Adopted WCAG 2.2 Level AA as our target standard, replacing WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
  • July 28, 2026 — Reviewed a further accessibility report and verified each finding directly against the site's code. Retired a third-party accessibility overlay in favour of accessibility implemented directly in the site's code. Added a keyboard-accessible pause control to the scrolling banner, improved the visibility of selected text, repaired the "Skip to product information" link on product pages, and added accessible names to the product add-on and cart controls. Product pages re-tested with no errors.
  • July 8, 2026 — Conducted accessibility testing across the homepage, product, and collection pages using automated scanning together with manual keyboard and screen-reader checks. Remediated interactive components (announcement bar, expandable content, and promotional panel) to align with WCAG 2.1 AA, and applied minor color-contrast adjustments.
