How to Celebrate Our Free Country This July 4th

We believe that our beautiful country has so much to offer us every day (hey, we're not Free Country for no reason!), but what better day to really #GetOutThere than Independence Day?!

With cultures and climates as diverse as our population, and adventures large and small from coast to coast, we are blessed with the opportunity to explore, challenge ourselves, relax, travel and experience new things each and every day.

Together, we celebrate family, friends and freedom. Together, we celebrate our free country.

This year, shake up your BBQ routines with something a little different. From family-friendly festivals to summer symphony nights, there are so many amazing events happening country-wide just for you to enjoy.

New York City

Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Competition. What began as a Hot Dog eating competition back in 1916 has now become an infamous spectacle. The contest is simple: whoever can consume (and keep down!) the most hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes is the winner! (Be warned, the current defending champion from 2017 consumed 72 hot dogs!)

International African Arts Festival. An artistic and exciting explosion of African art, music, food and culture, this festival is not to be missed! What began as a small fundraiser in the 70s now attracts large scale audiences and executes dynamic, thrilling performances!

Travis Parade. A patriotic parade and march empowered with a historical turnout since its inception in the early 1900s, Travis Parade on Staten Island is one of a kind. So unique and powerful, in fact, that the section of Victory Blvd marched was officially re-named "Independence Way" in April 2004.

ExxonMobil Summer Symphony Nights. The perfect family-friendly patriotic evening, topped off with a star-spangled musical salute to our great nation! The best part? Entry is FREE, so get on down to the Houston Miller Outdoor Theatre!

Coolest 5k Fun Run in Texas. That's the actual name of the event, we promise! Hosted in Fort Davis, this 5km fun run not only helps you #GetOutThere and celebrate, but also raises money for the Fort Davis Education Foundation.

Willie Nelson's 4th of July Picnic in Austin. The legendary musician is playing host to the long-beloved Circuit of the Americas celebration! With a lineup of musicians longer than this entire article, this is a show not to be missed!

Country Fair at Ronyon Elementary School. Looking for ways to entertain the kids? Look no further than La Verne's very own elementary school fair, from 11am until 2pm! With a stage, petting zoo, pony rides and other games, the kids won't be bored, and neither will you!

Los Angeles LA Coliseum Festival & Fireworks. Camp out all day, or come for the fireworks at night -- it's really up to you, thanks to the LA Coliseum's picnic-style event on the lawn, with food vendors and games starting at 11am all the way until 10pm!

San Diego Old Fashioned July 4th. Known as the "turn-of-the-20th-century-style" this unique celebration takes July 4th back in time to celebrate its roots, and our history. With old-fashioned games, children's crafts and costumes galore, the whole family will love this unique experience!

Independence Eve (July 3rd) at Apalachicola. Kick off the festivities early this year with Apalachicola's July 3rd event -- featuring live music, costumes, fireworks and food, it's the perfect way to make the most of July 4... on July 3!

Naples 4th of July Fireworks Choreographed to WAVV 101.1 FM. Take your firework experience to the next level with a twenty-minute display of fireworks artistically coordinated to WAVV 101.1 FM! Bring a chair, a blanket, a picnic of food and a radio to tune in for a spectacle!

Key West Key Lime Festival. Feeling like you really want to add a twist to your celebrations this year? Check out the Key Lime Festival's 4th of July day at the Florida Keys! Filled with everything from a pie eating competition to the classic firework display, this one's sure to excite!
