Ecommerce Merchandise Manager

Free Country, an active lifestyle apparel clothing brand specializing in outerwear, active wear and swim, is seeking a Ecommerce Merchandise Manager.

The Merchandise Manager is responsible for creating seasonal line assortments to drive the financial performance of Free Country’s website, Amazon and Target’s DTC businesses.

  • Ecommerce financial performance through department target setting

  • Assortment strategy creation, site organization, customer site experience, and daily adjustments based on site analytics.

  • Manage site visual merchandising team accountable for: sample tracking, product uploading, category page creation seasonal collection pages, photo shoot support, pricing consistency & accuracy, and reporting.

  • Partner with Planning on divisional and department level planning to drive growth

  • Hindsight business performance and customer trends to create seasonal merchandise strategies

  • Create assortment line plans including Ecom Exclusive styles to support growth plan

  • Maintain in depth understanding of store assortment strategy through grow/maintain/decline categories, pricing architecture, and big ideas

  • Collaborate with wholesale team on product assortment

  • Leverage site analytics to drive customer engagement, traffic, and conversion through product orientation, landing pages, promotion, and navigation features

  • Support site marketing with A-E spot stories and product roadmap strategies at weekly and monthly level

  • Drive weekly email strategy and curate product selection

  • Create processes and systems within the department that enhance efficiency and optimize the talent of the team

  • Proactively seek out new opportunities to grow the business and further personal and professional development

  • Maintain a keen awareness of the target customer through market data and competitive shopping analysis


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • 3-5 years ecommerce experience and at least 5 years of merchandising or buying experience

  • Experience in building product assortment strategies

  • Financial acumen in both site KPI metrics and retail math

  • Team management experience and developing talent

  • Ability to work collaboratively

  • Strong communication skills

  • Entrepreneurial curiosity and spirit

  • Works well in collaboration and sharing and is approachable by all levels of the organization
